Creating the Right Home Environment

There is nothing nicer then walking into a house and smelling the sweet scent of lavender, sandalwood, bergamot or cinnamon. Scented candles and oil burners and diffusers are a great way to fill a house with an aromatic scent and there is a massive range available.

Gone are the days when you could just pick up a vanilla candle, shops are now packed with a choice of oil reed diffusers, candle burning diffusers and new high tech ultrasonic diffusers.

The most traditional diffuser is a simple ceramic pot with two layers; the top layer holds your chosen essential oil and the bottom section a candle which warms the oil. When the oil is warm the scent lifts and spreads across the room creating a scent sensation.

Reed diffusers are newer to the market and are made up of a bottle which contains your essential oil or aromatherapy oil mix and reeds which are inserted into the bottle top.  The reeds then absorb the scent which is released into the room.

A more modern and high tech diffuser uses ultrasonic technology combined with tap water and your chosen essential oil to create a fragrant mist.  This product does not need heat or candles so if it needs to be left for a while is much safer.

To make the most of your chosen diffuser ensure you chose the oil for the mood and atmosphere you are trying to create.  If you are home from work after a long, stressful day then essential oils such as ylang ylang, frankincense and lavender are known for their soothing, relaxing and de-stressing properties.  If you are full of a cold or congested with a headache then lemon, cedar wood and peppermint are just three of the essential oils that could help alleviate some of the symptoms.  If you need help sleeping then place a diffuser in your bedroom and try using one or a mix of the following essential oils which are known for helping encourage sleep – lavender, marjoram, sandalwood, roman chamomile and valerian.

You can always buy a ready made bottle of aromatherapy oil, a mix of essential oils crafted for whichever specific purpose it is needed.  If you are not confident in mixing your own essential oils then this is a great option.

having a nice smelling home can make you feel good, then you cook some fried dried fish and that’s the end of it 🙂 just kidding. I love oil diffuser too, but right now I use the oil warmer and it works pretty good too.

I always love aromatherapy in my room and even in our bathroom, they’re indeed very relaxing and calming. They eventually took my headache away too especially the ones made with eucalyptus mint.

Indeed! hehehhee… that’s one thing I normally observe in a home, the sweet and inviting smell of the house. Believe me it’s discouraging to have visitors when our home stinks lol
